Here's the super rudiment we had a look at, mixing up singles doubles and paradiddles. Take is slow and try to get the change from each sticking as even as possible with no change in tempo volume or adding accents.

"The Eye of the Tiger"-Survivor

Hey guys the intro and groove to eye of the tiger. The two fills we looked at will follow. Make sure you count the rests carefully in the cymbal pushes in the intro in the second line!!!

"Don't Stop Believeing"-Journey

Here's the groove we looked at to play the track "don't stop..". It is slightly different to the one on the track but works really well. When you play along remember the cymbal pushes on 4+ after the crazy guitar solo and the cymbal pushed that follow the riff at the end of the first chorus.
 Enjoy guys!

RLL Warm-up

Ok guys here's the warm up we've been looking at the last couple of weeks using the RLL sticking designed to work on your co-ordination and build up your left hand. Take it each stage at a time and remember it's only going to help you if you practice getting as as perfect as you can. It's not about speed!!!

Chorus Groove to Nickleback Rockstar

I've written out this groove in half time (quarter notes on the hi-hat, instead of 8th notes) to help you learn the co-ordination. Take your time with each bar on it's own and then try playing the first two bars joined together and your playing the finished groove.
The last bar is the full groove written as it should be. IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME as the previous two bars but is written condensed into one bar instead of two.

Groove to Clocks by coldplay

Here's the groove to the song clocks by coldplay. Start slow guys, playing the snare drum on the 1 will feel a little strange to start with. Once you can play the groove on the ride cymbal try moving your right hand onto the hi-hat and even a crash. Good luck guys :)

We will be looking at the last two bars next lesson so by all means have a go at working them out before then but if you can't manage it no worries, we'll go through it together.

Smoke on the water intro

Here's the 16th note intro to somke on the water we had a look at this week. Read it care fully and take your time making sure your not rushing the hi-hat part when you add in the snare drum on beats 2 and 4

The Lazy Song-Full Groove

Ok so here's the full groove for the Lazy Song. Take the basic 8th note groove at the top then add in the 16th note snare syncopations on the 2 and 4. Take it slow and count making sure your hi-hat pattern doesn't change to fit the extra snare drums in. The third bar has the last change in it, adding another snare drum, in between the two bass drums on 3+. Again take your time. If your not sure it's right when you've finished it, play the basic 8th note groove again and check your right hand and foot pattern aren't changing when you add in those extra snares!!

"The Lazy Song"-Bruno Mars

The One Drop

Ok guys so last lesson we took the groove from the lazy song and moved thr bass drums to line up with the snare drums creating the "one drop" groove. This groove is almost exclusively associated with reggae music which is why we played it to bob marley's "Three Little Birds" although it will work well with other classic reggae tunes such as "Stir it up", "we're Jammin" and "no woman no cry"
Again i've written the groove in 1/4 notes at the top to help with the co-ordination and 8th notes underneath. This is a tricky one to start right so make sure you really count it hard!!

"The Lazy Song"- Bruno Mars

Ok guys here's the groove to the lazy song. Both bars are the same groove but the top one is written in quater notes so it's easier to count and play but they are both the same groove!!

The Groove to "Forget you" Cee Lo Green

This is the groove we looked at for Cee lo Green's track for get you. Check out the extra snare drum on the last 16th note of beat 2 which falls between the two hi-hat 8th notes.
Make sure you've really got this one nailed guys cos we're gonna up the game next week :)

Complete Chart for "Enter Sandman"

Here's the whole of the track for you guys to have a look at. We have covered the intro section and the half time groove in the pre-chorus section. There are also a couple of nice little fills here and there for you to have a look at. Happy practicing :)

Cymbal Pushes for Enter Sandman

Here's the first cymbal crash four bars into the tom tom riff in the intro

And here's the last two cymbal crashes and the fourth and final crash in this section is the same as the first one. Most of you guys were pretty sorted with these by the end of last lesson so try practicing it to the track :)

Muse-"Time is Running Out"

Muse Time is Running Out

Hey guys for some reason i couldn't get the score to save as a pdf and upload directly to the blog but this page has a whole bunch of muse transcripts, click on time is running out and you can download and print off all three pages. The toms groove we looked at last lesson is the pre chorus at the top of the 2nd page. Enjoy :)!!
